Give us this day our daily bread… – Matthew 6:11
What we all need is someone to lead us to true rest and satisfaction that does not depend on our every day circumstances. Our text for this sermon tells us that this is exactly what we have in our Good Shepherd – One who loves us & leads us to true satisfaction & rest in Him! Listen in as we discuss how the shepherd/sheep relationship pictures our intimate relationship with our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Primary text: Psalm 23:2. See also Matthew 11:28-30; Psalm 19:7-10; and 2 Timothy 3:16-17.
God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him. ~ John Piper
Psalm 23:1b says, “I shall not want.” What does it mean to “not want”? Does it mean I will always have everything I want? In this sermon we examine this promise in light of God faithfulness to us His children. The key to having the joy, peace, rest of soul … that we all long for is found in knowing that our loving, faithful Shepherd promises us that we will always have everything we truly need to enjoy Him. What ever I have today, if Jesus is my Shepherd, I have everything I need to live with joy and glorify and enjoy Him!
