Romans 11:1-6

I. God’s Unchanging Love is Based on His Choice – 11:1-4.

Romans 8:29-30 [29] For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. [30] And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those whom he justified he also glorified.

Amos 3:2a “You only have I known of all the families of the earth”

Romans 9:6 But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel,…

II. God’s Unchanging Love is Based on His Grace – 11:5-6.

Romans 4:3-5 [3] For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.” [4] Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due. [5] And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness,

Romans 9:11 [ref. to Jacob & Esau] though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad—in order that God’s purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of [t]him who calls—

Ephesians 2:8-9 [8] For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, [9] not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Application:

  1. If you are in Christ, Grace is the firm basis of your salvation!
  1. If you are in Christ, it is not the result of anything you have done!

Conclusion:

Oh the deep, deep love of Jesus
‘Tis a heav’n of heav’ns to me
And it lifts me up to glory
For it lifts me up to Thee/
Oh the deep, deep love of Jesus
Spread His praise from shore to shore
How He loveth, ever loveth
Changeth never, nevermore
