Sermon: Luke 1:26-38, No Ordinary Child

Main Point: Jesus was no ordinary child because of His mission, greatness, and purity.

I. No Ordinary Child Because of His Mission – 1:31.

“She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” – Matthew 1:21

II. No Ordinary Child Because of His Greatness – 1:32-33.

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and of peace there will be no end, on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it with justice and with righteousness from this time forth and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will do this.” – Isaiah 9:6

III. No Ordinary Child Because of His Purity – 1:34-35.

Application

1) Has His mission reached you?

2) Has His greatness humbled you?

3) Has His purity comforted you?

Born Thy people to deliver,
Born a child, and yet a King,
Born to reign in us forever,
Now Thy gracious kingdom bring.
By Thine own eternal Spirit
Rule in all our hearts alone;
By Thine all-sufficient merit
Raise us to Thy glorious throne.

“Come Thou Long Expected Jesus”, Charles Wesley
